ZPE Cloud no longer manages Nodegrid OS 5.6 and older: what still works and what to check

Nodegrid OS Support Changes: What You Need to Know
ZPE Cloud 2.53.0 has ended management support for Nodegrid OS versions 5.6 and earlier, impacting data centre operators managing legacy infrastructure. Understanding these Nodegrid OS support changes is critical to avoid losing remote access capabilities and real-time device visibility across your out-of-band management network.
While affected devices remain connected to ZPE Cloud, device information updates cease and remote access functionality stops working on unsupported versions. Organizations running Nodegrid OS 4.x, 5.0.x, 5.2.x, 5.4.x, or 5.6.x must plan upgrades to Nodegrid OS 6.2.8 or later to maintain full management capabilities and ensure continuity of critical data centre operations.
ZPE Cloud no longer manages Nodegrid OS 5.6 and older: what still works and what to check
ZPE Cloud 2.53.0, released on 24 June 2026, removed management support for Nodegrid OS 4.x, 5.0.x, 5.2.x, 5.4.x and 5.6.x. The units stay connected. Their device information stops updating and remote access stops working.
Our note on Nodegrid OS 6.2.8 mentioned this support floor in a single paragraph. This article covers it in full, because it affects any estate that still has older units enrolled.
What “end of support” means in ZPE Cloud
It is not a disconnection. An affected device can still connect to ZPE Cloud, and the platform can still apply configuration, back it up and restore it, and push a software or cellular upgrade. What ZPE Cloud no longer does is keep the device’s information current or provide remote access to it.
Where the line sits
For a site with nobody on hand, remote access is the part you were relying on. A unit below the line still looks enrolled, so the gap is easy to miss until you need to reach it.
Finding the affected units
ZPE Cloud has shown an OS Compliance column on the Devices, Enrolled page since version 2.49.0 on 17 December 2025. It tells you whether each device’s operating system is supported under ZPE policy. The same release added an API endpoint, device/os-compliance-map, which reports the support status of each Nodegrid OS version as Supported, Announced End of Life, End of Life or End of Support.

What ZPE Cloud 2.54.0 changed
RESYNC button
Released on 16 September 2026, version 2.54.0 disabled the RESYNC button for devices that do not support the feature. ZPE does not tie this to the OS floor, so treat a greyed-out button as a prompt to check the unit’s version rather than a diagnosis.
Offline Delay default
The default device Offline Delay notification for new configurations moved from 3 to 15 minutes. Existing settings are preserved and the delay can be set back to 3 minutes. If a runbook assumes a three minute alert, check the setting on anything configured since.
What the release notes do not say
ZPE publishes this change inside its release notes, and we found no standalone end-of-life page for Nodegrid OS. The notes give no end date for 5.8 itself. Whether a particular older unit can run 5.8 or later is a per-model question, so confirm it before you budget a refresh.
Frequently asked questions
What did ZPE Cloud 2.53.0 change?
ZPE Cloud 2.53.0, released on 24 June 2026, removed management support for devices running Nodegrid OS 4.x, 5.0.x, 5.2.x, 5.4.x and 5.6.x. Devices on version 5.8 and above remain fully supported.
Do affected Nodegrid devices disconnect from ZPE Cloud?
No. They can still connect and disconnect, and ZPE Cloud can still run Apply Configuration, Backup and Backup Restore, Software Upgrade and Cellular Upgrade on them. Device information is no longer updated, and remote access stops working.
How do I find which devices are affected?
Use the OS Compliance column on the Devices, Enrolled page in ZPE Cloud, added in version 2.49.0 on 17 December 2025. It shows whether each device’s operating system is supported under ZPE policy. The device/os-compliance-map API endpoint, added in the same release, reports the support status of each Nodegrid OS version as Supported, Announced End of Life, End of Life or End of Support.
Can I still upgrade an affected device from ZPE Cloud?
Software Upgrade is one of the operations ZPE lists as still working on devices below the support line, so the upgrade can be pushed remotely. The upgrade path depends on the version each unit is on, so confirm it against the Nodegrid release notes before scheduling.
What changed in ZPE Cloud 2.54.0?
Released on 16 September 2026, it disabled the RESYNC button for devices that do not support the feature, and changed the default device Offline Delay notification for new configurations from 3 minutes to 15 minutes. Existing settings are preserved and the delay can be customised back down to 3 minutes.
Does Nodegrid OS 5.8 have an end date?
ZPE’s published release notes do not give one. ZPE states only that 5.8 and above remain fully supported. We found no standalone end-of-life page for Nodegrid OS, so confirm any planning date with ZPE or with Enova.
Not sure which units sit below the line?
Enova Technologies is an authorised ZPE Systems partner in Singapore. Send us your device list with the OS versions and we will mark the units below the support line and suggest an upgrade order.
