G&D and VuWall unveiled vsNEO at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam on 11 September. It gives a control room a dedicated, encrypted KVM network that sets itself up on an ordinary unmanaged switch, with no VLAN design and no licence fees.
Most KVM-over-IP projects stall in the same place. The hardware gets approved, and then the network design starts. VLANs, multicast, IGMP snooping, an address plan, and a conversation with an IT team that never asked for an AV project. On a small control room, that step can cost more in time than the equipment costs in money.
vsNEO removes it. The vsNEO-center controller carries the network intelligence itself. Put it on a standard unmanaged 1GbE Layer-2 switch and it runs its own DHCP server, addresses every endpoint automatically, and encrypts the KVM traffic with AES-256. The control room ends up with a network of its own, and the business LAN carries none of it.
What zero-config KVM means
A zero-config KVM-over-IP system supplies its own network intelligence rather than relying on the building’s IT infrastructure. The controller acts as the sole DHCP server for a dedicated KVM network, assigns addresses automatically, and runs on standard unmanaged Layer-2 switching without multicast configuration.
The practical effect is that the AV system stops being an IT project. Nothing has to be requested from the network team, and the KVM traffic is isolated from the business network by construction rather than by policy.
A KVM network that sets itself up
One device type across the whole project
The vsNEO-link is a single transceiver that works as an encoder, a decoder, a video wall node or a multi-PIP desk receiver, depending on where you put it. For an integrator that means one part number to specify, stock and support across a job, and a spares holding that covers every position in the room.
It is 105 mm wide and 30 mm high. Three sit side by side in a 1 RU carrier, and twelve fit in a 3 RU carrier. The endpoints are passively cooled and silent, with an optional vsNEO-AIR module that draws air through dense racks that have no ventilation of their own. A G&D MultiPower-12 unit can power twelve endpoints centrally over USB-C, or each unit can take power over the network cable instead.
Small touches suggest people who have commissioned racks. Each unit has an OLED display showing its IP address and assigned name, and it can be made to flash so you can find the right box in a full cabinet.
What it does once it is running
On the video side it captures HDMI up to 4K at 60 Hz. The network stream to a decoder is 4:2:0. The local loop-out on an encoder stays uncompressed 4:4:4, which matters when an operator sits next to the source machine as well as on the network. While it carries the 4K stream, the encoder also produces a 1080p H.264 RTSP copy-stream at 30 fps that VLC, OBS or a recording server can pick up.
Operators get a dark-mode on-screen display with live source thumbnails, running natively on the decoder with no PC behind it. Up to 10 monitors can behave as one workspace so the cursor crosses bezels, or up to 16 sources can share a single 4K screen. Layouts can be shared across displays in a click. Audio embeds and de-embeds natively and mixes up to 16 sources.
Security is built into the shape of the system rather than added on top. The KVM network is isolated from the business LAN and AES-256 encrypted, with granular rights management held inside the system. The operator desk accepts keyboards and mice only, which closes off BadUSB and similar attacks at the point where they usually start.

Two details are worth checking early on any vsNEO design. Where HDCP-protected sources are in scope, standard HDCP 2.2 topology limits apply at 32 devices and four repeater levels per branch, which sits below the 96 endpoint figure. And monitors grouped into a single workspace or video wall need to share resolution and orientation, so mixed portrait and landscape layouts point to the VuWall tier.

No. The vsNEO-center runs its own DHCP server on a dedicated KVM network built on a standard unmanaged 1GbE Layer-2 switch, so there is no VLAN design, no multicast tuning and no address plan to request from IT. The controller also has a second, physically separate management port that can be given an address on another network, so the system can be configured from outside while the AV traffic stays isolated.
How secure is the vsNEO network?
The KVM and AV traffic runs on its own network, isolated from the business LAN, and is encrypted with AES-256. User rights are managed inside the system rather than through an external directory. The operator desk accepts USB keyboards and mice only, which removes BadUSB and mass-storage routes at the desk. Note that the controller’s management port is reachable from another network by design, so this is an isolated KVM network with a separate management path rather than a true air gap.
Are there recurring licence fees?
G&D states there are none. The central web interface, the routing and the on-screen display are built in, with no per-seat licences, server software costs or subscriptions. That is a change from the G&D matrix range, where features such as Matrix-Grid and MatrixGuard are licensed premium options that have to be budgeted separately.
