What Power IQ 9.3.7 changes: licences, DC power and the upgrade notices

Power IQ 9.3.7 Changes: Licensing and DC Power Updates
Data centre managers need reliable power monitoring to prevent costly outages and optimize infrastructure performance. Power IQ 9.3.7 introduces critical updates to how your facility tracks and manages PDU data across your entire data centre ecosystem.
This latest release streamlines licence consumption by eliminating overhead from decommissioned items, while delivering enhanced DC power management capabilities. As Sunbird’s dedicated PDU polling engine, Power IQ 9.3.7 works seamlessly with dcTrack 9.3.7 to give you unified visibility and control over your power infrastructure.
What Power IQ 9.3.7 changes: licences, DC power and the upgrade notices
Sunbird announced Power IQ 9.3.7 on 26/10/2026, with release notes dated 23/10/2026. Decommissioned items no longer consume a Power IQ licence.
Power IQ is Sunbird’s PDU polling engine. Version 9.3.7 is a companion to dcTrack 9.3.7 and shares one of its changes. This piece covers what is new, the upgrade paths, and three notices in the release notes that affect specific hardware.
What is new
Direct current power
For DC dynamic plugin devices, Power IQ now calculates active power, apparent power and power factor from amps and volts. “Direct Current” is a new phase option for structured and unstructured dynamic plugins, and the DC inlet phase shows in item details.
The full list
| Decommissioned items | No longer consume a Power IQ licence. |
| Direct current power | Active power, apparent power and power factor calculated from amps and volts for DC dynamic plugin devices. New “Direct Current” phase option for structured and unstructured plugins. |
| Invalid sensors | A dynamic plugin can define humidity and temperature values that count as invalid. Such sensors are not added, or are decommissioned if already present. |
| dcTrack controls the name | A checkbox on the dynamic plugin page takes the facility item name from the dcTrack Item Alias. If the PDU name is not mapped, MIB-II SysName is not used. |
| Disable integrations on restore | Covers remote backup storage and HTTP event notifications. |
| Inclusive date range | Event list, audit log, user list and user group list take a start and end date. |
| OAuth2 scopes | Supported for HTTP event notifications. Optional, existing integrations are unaffected. |
| NetBotz plugin (beta) | Adds the 750 and 755 models, and airflow, contact closure and motion sensors and traps on the 355 and 570. NetBotz firmware 4.6.4 and later drops SNMPv2, so Power IQ and the APC facility item must both use SNMPv3. |
| Security | The notes list 33 CVE IDs under notable vulnerabilities resolved and say the list may not be exhaustive. Sunbird states the hardened appliance allows no direct login, so CVEs that need local privilege escalation do not affect it. |
| Bug fixes | Eight listed, including alerts still sent after being paused, negative humidity from BayTech PDU sensors, ping-failed alerts not generated, and slow loading of latest outlet readings that made dcTrack power ports slow to populate. |
Upgrade paths
From 8.0.x, 8.1.x, 9.0.x, 9.1.x, 9.2.x, 9.3.0, 9.3.3 or 9.3.5, upgrade with the bin file through the GUI. From 7.2.x there is no direct route: install 9.3.7 from ISO, back up the 7.2.x system and restore that backup to the new one. Sunbird strongly recommends a backup before any upgrade and remote backup storage. If you integrate with dcTrack, disable that integration before upgrading and re-enable it afterwards.
The release applies to AWS, Dell R640, R650, R740 and R840, Hyper-V, Linux KVM, Raritan E2 hardware and VMware. For outlet-metered PDUs of up to 36 outlets polled every five minutes, the minimum VM for up to 100 PDUs is 24 GB RAM, 8 cores and 600 GB disk.
Three notices before you upgrade
APC 8000 series
Daisy-chained PDUs with outlet power control show all outlets across the chain on every PDU, so the wrong outlet can be picked. Standalone units are not affected. A fix is pending.
Legrand door access
With PDU-based authorization, wrong rules can appear temporarily and correct themselves at the nightly sync. Power IQ-based authorization is not affected. A hotfix is planned.
Power IQ 9.4.0
Will not support Raritan E2 hardware as the host platform, or the Cisco Energywise plugin. The E2 point is about the appliance Power IQ runs on, not Raritan rack PDUs.
The update is for customers with a valid maintenance contract. The announcement gives no pricing, and Enova has not tested the release.
Frequently asked questions
What is new in Power IQ 9.3.7?
Sunbird announced Power IQ 9.3.7 on 26/10/2026. Decommissioned items no longer consume a licence, direct current dynamic plugin devices get active power, apparent power and power factor calculated from amps and volts, sensors with invalid readings can be ignored, and administrators can disable integrations when restoring a backup. The release notes also list 33 CVE IDs under notable vulnerabilities resolved.
Do decommissioned items still use a Power IQ licence?
Not in 9.3.7. Sunbird says decommissioned items no longer consume a Power IQ license. The announcement does not say how this affects existing licence counts or contracts, so confirm with your Sunbird partner.
Which versions can upgrade directly to Power IQ 9.3.7?
From 8.0.x, 8.1.x, 9.0.x, 9.1.x, 9.2.x, 9.3.0, 9.3.3 or 9.3.5, use the bin file through the GUI. From 7.2.x there is no direct upgrade: install 9.3.7 from ISO, back up the 7.2.x system and restore that backup. Sunbird strongly recommends a backup before upgrading, and says to disable the dcTrack integration first if you use it.
Does Power IQ 9.4.0 drop support for Raritan hardware?
The release notes say 9.4.0 will not support Raritan E2 hardware as the host platform, because a major OS update is planned. That refers to the appliance Power IQ runs on, not to Raritan rack PDUs.
What should APC 8000 series users check before upgrading?
The release notes warn that with APC 8000 series daisy-chained PDUs with outlet power control, on Power IQ 9.0 through 9.3.7, all outlets across the chain show on every PDU, so the wrong outlet can be picked. Standalone units are not affected. Sunbird says a fix is pending after it works with APC on the MIB.
Who can download Power IQ 9.3.7?
Sunbird says it is available worldwide, on subscription or perpetual licences, to customers with a valid maintenance contract. The download and release notes are on Sunbird’s support portal. The announcement gives no pricing.
